Modi Visits: Green Card Relief Easing the Wait for Indians in America

Good news for Indians waiting for a green card in America! The Biden administration has made it easier for them to qualify. This decision was made when the Indian Prime Minister, Modi, was invited to visit America from the 21st to the 24th of this month by the President and First Lady, Biden. Thousands of Indian tech professionals who have been waiting for a long time for a green card will benefit from this change. The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has relaxed the requirements for applying for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) and renewing it. Having a green card allows immigrants to live permanently in the United States.

According to the laws of immigration, the United States issues around 140,000 green cards every year. However, each country can only receive 7% of these green cards. A person who fights for the rights of immigrants, named Ajay Bhutoria, said that the new changes will help those who want to legally live and work in America. These changes will bring relief to people who are dealing with challenges like serious illness, disability, problems with their employer, seeking justice, or facing harm.

Ajay Bhutoria also mentioned that individuals who fall into the oversubscribed category and chargeability will have the chance to provide evidence such as education, mortgage documents, or long-term lease records. The “Foundation of India and Indian Diaspora Studies” expressed their happiness about the relaxed eligibility rules for green cards.

A lot of people think that the new guidelines from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) about green card issuance will be really helpful for Indian technicians. These guidelines are expected to make it easier for them to fulfill their dream of settling down in America. The United States has announced that these new guidelines will apply not only to people who have already applied for a green card but also to those who are renewing their existing ones.
